Investigate fraud cases involving Rs 5 million or more: Hry DGPc

Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur on Thursday directed State Crime Squad officers to take over and investigate fraud cases involving Rs. 5 million or more in the state. Chairing a review meeting on crime control measures, Kapur sought a report from officers on the action taken so far in 11 major cases pending under the State Crime Service.

The DGP said that the State Crime Squad is a strong and important unit of the Haryana Police and hence it is imperative to thoroughly investigate every case. The State Crime Branch team should study the cases closely, taking into account all aspects of the files, so that strict action can be taken against the guilty person, he added.

The DGP also indicated during the meeting that three new criminal laws have been implemented in the country since July 1, so it is necessary to work in accordance with the new laws.
In the meeting, Kapur also expressed his views on controlling cyber crime. He said that a proper and effective action plan should be made to nab the criminals in cases related to digital arrest.

During the meeting, SP Cyber ​​​​Amit Dahiya informed that in the year 2023, about 1500 complaints were received daily on the cyber helpline number, which has now increased to 2500 and 2800. In such a situation, it is necessary to increase number of personnel deployed on the helpline number. Acting immediately on the matter, the DGP also ordered an increase in the number of personnel deployed on the cyber helpline number-1930. He said: “Every call to the helpline number is important. Therefore, it is our responsibility that all calls are picked up on time so that prompt action can be taken on the complaints received regarding them.”

Additional Director General of Police, State Crime Branch, Mamta Singh informed that active work is being done to control cyber crime. Cybercrime hotspots in Haryana are identified from where relatively more cybercrime cases are reported. Cyber ​​criminals are on the police radar and a planned approach is being taken to control cyber crime, she added.
