The fugitive parliamentarian’s father has died

ARNOLFO Teves Sr., patriarch of the Teves political clan in Negros Oriental and father of fugitive congressman Arnolfo “Arnie” Teves Jr., died on December 24 at the age of 77.

He was also the father of Pryde Henry Teves, who was governor and representative of the province at various points.

A renowned businessman with investments in sugar plantations and other businesses, the elder Teves had made strategic political alliances.

In his prime, he was known for his ability to connect with both the masses and the political elites.

Tevez Jr. he was expelled from the House of Representatives in early 2024 after being linked to the assassination of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo in March 2023.

The rampage, which killed nine others and injured many more, earned the name “The Pamplona Massacre.”

In addition to his alleged involvement in Degamo’s murder, Teves Jr. was facing several criminal charges, including illegal possession of firearms and explosives.

After being tagged in the murder, Teves was named a terrorist by the Anti-Terrorism Council.

Tevez Jr. is currently in East Timor.

On December 5, a court in East Timor ruled in favor of Teves Jr.’s extradition.
