CEDAR RAPIDS — A Cedar Rapids woman is being held on $25,000 cash-only bail at the Linn County Jail on charges of armed robbery this summer at a Hiawatha gas station and liquor store.

Emily Delores Edgeton, 24, was charged with first-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit a felony by force.

According to a criminal complaint, Edgeton drove two men to the Quick Mart Liquor & Wine at 655 Robins Rd. in Hiawatha on June 3. Police say the two men robbed an employee at gunpoint. One of the men told the employee to open the cash register while the other checked the shelves under the register where money was hidden, the complaint states.

The two, who are not identified in the criminal complaint, stole about $1,400 in cash, according to Hiawatha police.

The robbery was caught on video surveillance. Edgeton’s vehicle was caught on surveillance, and she was later pulled over in the vehicle that night by Cedar Rapids police. Officers found messages on Edgeton’s phone between her and one of the men accused of carrying out the robbery, including a message saying she pulled over and covered for him, according to the criminal complaint.

“There were also searches on her phone after the robbery related to the robbery and that she was a driver in a robbery,” the complaint states.

Edgeton was arrested Sunday and made her first court appearance Monday. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 2 in Linn County District Court.
