Dom DiSandro had to break up an altercation between Nick Sirianni and Zach Ertz

Zach Ertz had one catch for 12 yards on two carries in the Chiefs’ 36-33 win in Week 16, and with Philadelphia and Washington on a postseason collision course, a wild-card match it could be electric due to last week’s post-game activity.

Jeff McLane by researcher reported on his “Bird Discovery” podcast that Big Dom DiSandro had to separate Ertz and Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni after a brief altercation.

In a photo taken by Inquirer staff photographer David Maialetti, Ertz can be seen chatting with Sirianni as the two walk off the field.

Neither the Eagles coach nor Washington’s right tackle wanted to get into what happened next in Landover, Md., on Sunday, but their brief dust-up saw Ertz push back on a comment Sirianni made about his performance in the game, sources familiar with the incident told The Inquirer.

The two had to be separated by Eagles Chief Security Officer Dom DiSandro, who then ushered Sirianni into the tunnel at Northwest Stadium.

“We both said ‘congratulations’ to each other,” Sirianni told reporters after the game.

“We exchanged holiday pleasantries and kept it moving,” Ertz told The Inquirer not long after.

McLane’s report says Ertz took exception to Sirianni’s comment about his performance in the game and that Sirianni later apologized to Ertz on a Zoom call.

Ertz was traded to the Cardinals after playing six games for the Eagles in Sirianni’s first season after spending nine years in Philadelphia.
