2024 Counter Terrorism Operations: Record 59,775 operations conducted

Security forces and law enforcement agencies conducted 59,775 intelligence-led operations during 2024, marking an intensive phase in the nation’s ongoing counter-terrorism efforts. These operations resulted in the neutralization of 925 terrorists, representing the highest annual figure in the last five years.

Security forces carried out an average of 169 operations daily, involving coordinated efforts between the military, intelligence agencies, police and other law enforcement organizations. Among those neutralized were 73 high-value targets and 27 foreign militants of Afghan origin.

The operations led to major arms seizures, including foreign-made weapons and ammunition. Law enforcement agencies have also successfully disrupted several terrorist networks and prevented several planned attacks through timely intelligence-based interventions.

These counter-terrorism initiatives are a continuation of Pakistan’s long-term strategy against militant activities, building on years of security operations across the country. The operations involved various components of the security apparatus working in coordination to maintain national security.

This year’s operations mark a significant milestone in Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to combat terrorism, with law enforcement agencies achieving notable success in identifying and neutralizing terrorist networks.
