December 2024: Trump picks Boulos’ father, Massad Boulos, to serve as senior adviser on Middle East affairs.

One Social Truth post, Donald Trump described Massad Boulos as “a consummate lawyer and a highly respected leader in the business world.”

“He has been a longtime supporter of Republican and conservative values, an asset to my campaign, and has been instrumental in building extraordinary new coalitions with the Arab American Community,” he wrote in part.

Trump’s description of Massad Boulos as a “consummate lawyer” may not be accurate. Although Massad Boulos listed a law degree from Texas Southern University on his LinkedIn profile, a Business Insider investigation found that he does not appear to be licensed to practice law in any of the countries where he has lived.

Massad Boulos was also widely reported to be the billionaire owner of Boulos Enterprises and was said to The New York Times in December that his company was worth billions. However, Boulos Enterprises is owned by another Boulos family. The small automobile company that Massad Boulos runs, SCOA Nigeria, is worth approximately $865,000.

Massad Boulos later told The New York Times that he was referring to his father-in-law’s companies when asked about his business. Massad Boulos’ wife, Sarah Fadoul Boulos, is the daughter of wealthy Lebanese businessman Michel Zouhair Fadoul, who heads the conglomerate The Fadoul Group.

In an email to Business Insider, Trump spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt called media reports scrutinizing Boulos’ credentials “fake news.”

“The fact is that Mr. Boulos is a highly respected businessman who has proudly served as CEO of some of his family’s group of companies based in West Africa for more than 27 years and his family has employed tens of thousands of people around the globe. Leavitt said.
