Amazon workers are planning a strike during Black Friday and Cyber Monday, two of the busiest shopping periods after the Thanksgiving holiday.

The strike, titled “Make Amazon Pay,” is a push by protesters for better wages and for workers to be allowed to unionize.

Workers are striking in more than 20 countries and include the US – where workers plan to strike in “big cities” – Britain, France, Germany, Japan, Brazil, India and Turkey, according to UNI Global Union and Progressive Internationala global union based in Switzerland.

FOX Business noted that it’s unclear how many U.S. or foreign workers plan to strike.

The Associated Press reported that about 200 warehouse workers and delivery drivers rallied in the capital, New Delhi, under the banner “Make Amazon Pay.” Some wore masks of Amazon boss Jeff Bezos and threw up his hands against the Seattle company’s practices.

Organizers tell FOX Business that this will be the fifth year of a crackdown on Amazon at the start of the holiday shopping season.

The “Days of Resistance” aim to “hold Amazon accountable for (labor) abuses, environmental degradation and threats to democracy,” FOX Business reported, citing organizers UNI Global Union and Progressive International.

“From India to the United States, from Britain to Canada, workers are rising up against corporate exploitation and intimidation. “Make Amazon Pay Day” is a powerful testament to our unity and drive. No company – no matter how rich – can silence the cause. of workers demanding justice,” UNI Global Union General Secretary Christy Hoffman said in a statement to FOX Business.

In a statement from Amazon provided to FOX Business, the online retail giant accused organizers of being “deliberately misleading” and promoting a “false narrative.”

“The truth is, at Amazon, we’ve offered great pay, great benefits and great opportunities — all from day one,” Amazon spokeswoman Eileen Hards told FOX Business. “We have created more than 1.5 million jobs worldwide, and we offer you a modern, safe and engaging workplace, whether you work in an office or in one of our operations buildings.
