Mark Lifman’s alleged killers won’t know until next year if they’ll be granted bail

CAPE TOWN – The alleged killers of controversial Cape Town businessman Mark Lifman will not know until next year whether they will be granted bail or not.

Johannes Hendrik Jacobs and Gert Johannes Bezuidenhout appeared in a packed courtroom at George Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

Their bail offer was adjourned to January 16 and 17.

Lifman was shot and killed at the Garden Route Mall in George last month.

The alleged gunmen were arrested in Uniondale shortly after his killing, about an hour away from George.

The court heard that Johannes Hendrik Jacobs and Gert Johannes Bezuidenhout were moved to an unnamed prison for security reasons.

Their lawyer argued that this made it difficult to consult with his clients.

The defense attorney claims he drives about 300 kilometers to the prison to see his clients and can only consult for an hour when he gets there.

Alleged underworld gang boss Jerome “Donkie” Booysen was among friends of Mark Lifman in the public gallery for the appearance of his alleged killers.
